- Read Richard Wright's memoir, "The Night I Won the Right to the Streets of Memphis." Then read it again. Seriously. Read it twice. Make a list of FIVE features of good narrative writing techniques and give examples of each technique in Wright's memoir. You are essentially answering the question: "What makes a good memoir?"
- Then describe a day at the beach using all five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch. This should be a least a half page. Finally, describe Texas Roadhouse's Big Ol Brownie using at least three sense; this description should also be at least a half page.
